Day 1- Sunday July 29th

I'm back from Guatemala and Belize now so I thought I would just put my journal entries up here for yall to read about my trip. Just beware that there is about to be a heck of a lot of posts :} Also I'm legit-ally just copying my journal but adding some pictures in, and my journal is written in Spanglish in some parts, so you might not understand it all ^.^

On Sunday at midnight we were at the school, waiting to leave. we were supposed to be loading, but the bust wasn't there. The bus driver had thought we were leaving Monday at midnight. So he got there an hour later. Then he drove us to the Chicago airport and we were on our way. Our plane in Chicago was delayed, and after a two and a half hour flight we got to Miami with enough time to use the bathroom before we were on our way again. Once we got to Guatemala we went through customs and a few people lost there luggage before we headed out. We went to school, got some delicious guacamole, salsa, and chips, were told some stuff and then went to our houses. The salsa was really sweet.
At our house it was Mariah and I in one room and then two other girls from our group en la otra room. They had a nicer room, I swear to god. Though, we had a closet ;P
We met our hose family, the host mum was Elena. Though she might have been the host grandma, not really sure. She's nicea nd all, but we don't really comprende mucho que ella dice.
Then there's Dorita, yo pienso que Dorita es hija de Elena...no se.
There has also been dos chicos... un es hermano de Dorita, se llama Chirino, yo pienso...no se.
We also met America, pero no se la relacion entre de America y Elena. No importa para mi, though I probably should know it. So we had an awkward lovely chat with Dorita y miramos television. Then we went back to la escuela. There was so much waiting...It seems like all we do is wait around. Well two girls had gotten lost...
So we waited at least thirty minutes para ellas to be found then went to a restaurante. It was in a hotel y gorgeous. It also was elegant. I wore my sister's dark green skirt with my orange/white stripped zippered-backed shirt. It felt really awkward again because all the guys -Guatemalans- were saying those comments -piropas- we were warned to ignore. So the restaurante, nosotros tenemos pan, mucho delisioso, con sopa de pea and also some type of spicey salsa thing. The pea sopa might have been asparagus, no se. Then we had this really good carne, yo pienso steak with ham y queso topping. There was a veggie salada y rice with it.
After that was dessert. I ate it but didn't really like it. It had dates between this weird slimey bottom and a top that was like really really thick pudding. The top was okay...
After that five guys came out and danced to a live band (which had been playing all through dinner). They all had these masks on and extravagent ropa y maracas. In the middle they handed off maracas and got the diniing people to come dance, ten people at a time because there was ten maracas. It was awkward and fun. Then we got to wait for the buses(vans) to arrive and take us home. We went to bed. XD
The End of Dia Uno.
